What makes this historic city in Central Virginia a place worth living? Read on to find out!
Fredericksburg is an independent city in Virginia nestled between the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and the state’s capital, Richmond. Fredericksburg’s central location, deep history, and its community make the city a wonderful place to live whether you are single or have a family of your own. There is a reason why Fredericksburg has consistently been ranked as one of the best cities to live in Virginia.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Fredericksburg has about 29,000 happy residents living in the city, making it a place that is not over-populated but has enough citizens to form a strong sense of community. This city was a prominent port in Virginia during the colonial era due to its location along the Rappahannock River and remains an important historical icon: the 40-block Fredericksburg Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, contains more than 350 buildings and locations that date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. This district, often referred to as “Downtown Fredericksburg,” is also home to a number of local shops and restaurants.
